Legenda has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and it does not track you. We do not collect any personal data and we have no servers that receive your books.

What stays on your phone

Your library, scanned pages, imported files, the text recognised from them, your settings and any audio the app prepares are stored in the app on your phone. Text is recognised from photos on the phone using Apple's Vision framework. Deleting a book or the app deletes this data.

Camera and photos

Legenda asks for the camera so you can photograph book pages, and for the photo library only when you choose to import photos you already took. Neither is used for anything else.

When the app connects to the internet

Voices. When you download a voice, the app fetches its model file from the open-source sherpa-onnx project on GitHub. GitHub sees a normal download request from your network.

Web pages. When you import a web page, the app requests the address you typed from that website, like a browser.

Online voices (optional, off by default). If you enter your own key for a service such as OpenAI, Groq or Google, the text being read is sent to that service to be turned into speech, under its own terms. The key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your phone. If you do not turn this on, no text leaves your phone.

Children

Legenda is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
